Finally.... Genuine Price-Cut Deals For Kenya

I ain't alone on this one, I bet; you know, when you see amazing electronic or fashion deals online, but realize that they aren't meant for you--I mean, at least not for people in your geographical location! Remember the countless number of links you have clicked of only to get a "This offer is available in your country" message; or that you need an amount of dollars double the item cost to ship it to your country...and the weeks if not months before the product gets to you! Aaargh! That's the feeling I get! Not once, Not twice. This may actually not be as bad as the numerous scam sale sites that the cyberspace hosts.

I appreciate that some investors and organizations have attempted to mimic the Americanized business way of making purchases online, using coupons, door-to-door deliveries, etc. Nonetheless they have not quite cracked the Kenyan nut on this one. For instance, after excitement that a top supermarket chain in the country has an online catalog of its stock, including a "buy" button, it all ends there, there is no command to prompt user to check-out, OR ANY OTHER STEP! Could this be us, Kenyans, who are so conventional and would never trust virtual purchases?! OR Is it the businesses that lack the proper means to allow us to trade online; Maybe they do not educate us enough on the advantages of this (especially in terms of saving time), or eradicate our online fears, particularly "being scammed" of our hard earned pennies.

Recently, one online retailer, with past experience in vast populations and vast economies has actually done it! Yes, Jumia has made online retail buying possible in KE, and get this, not for a particular class, but for any person who can access their website. I stand to be corrected, but, remember those issues I mentioned earlier, I feel they have curbed them. For instance, their "BUY" Buttons actually work! They have integrated systems that allow payment processing, they give unique order numbers that they use in their step by step update of order status; thus making eradicating the uncertainty between purchase and delivery, especially for first-timers! EVEN MORE, Their relentless TV infomercial "Jumia, Jumia, Jumia..." explaining the process rings in our heads! Who would claim not to know them?!

Jumia made their presence especially felt during their Black Friday Sale! Products were unbelievably low-priced; with tablets starting at as low as KES 999 and laptops from KES 10000. Reports had it that Kenyans scrambled for products online, where a second wasted when clicking could cost you a deal! So many purchases were made that company recruited more delivery chauffeurs for the next week or so. I could say, this marked the birth of REAL online shopping in Kenya. Even with the festive season's deals gone, Jumia still offers its customers good deals to keep them around; and the deliveries are also inexpensive and convenient for all throughout the nation.
